Personal Profile

Todd F. Avis is Program Director for Carter Research, a strategic advisory and operations consulting firm to the education industry. In addition Todd is president of Leelenau Education Group, an educational management company specializing in providing academic, financial, and growth strategies to proprietary schools.

Todd has held numerous leadership roles in schools and companies committed to meeting the individual needs of students and providing parents with excellent educational opportunities for their children. At American Education Group, Todd served as Vice President of Education where he oversaw the development of curriculum and schools for students who learn differently. Todd was Director of School Quality and Vice President for Education at National Heritage Academies, one of the nation’s largest education management organizations. His department supported 53 schools with 1,100 classrooms and 22.000 students throughout multiple states. In his time at both American Education Group and National Heritage Academies, Todd was an integral part of ensuring success during rapid company growth.

Todd also has extensive experience in the trenches with many years serving children and parents as a teacher and administrator. He was principal of Vista Charter Academy and Headmaster of Hillsdale Academy, Hillsdale College’s reform model elementary school. Todd also spent several years serving young men with dyslexia at The Gow School where he was a Teacher, Academic Coordinator, Teacher of Reconstructive Language, and Director of Admissions.

Todd received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Hillsdale College and Master of Science in Educational Foundations from the State University College at Buffalo.

He is the father of three adult sons Gabe, Mackie, and Elliot and is married to Sandy. He enjoys biking and spending time in beautiful northern Michigan.
